What to expect

  • Free pickup usually means the metal is the payment. Yards pick up free when the load is worth the trip: a car, a few appliances, a renovation's worth of steel. Expect little or no cash for a free pickup.
  • Want to be paid? Drop it off yourself. The same load delivered to the yard is paid at the posted rate.
  • Bins for bigger jobs. Most of these yards rent roll-off bins (10–40 yards) for renovations and commercial cleanouts, and credit the scrap value against the bin fee.
  • Fridges and freezers need the refrigerant removed first; some yards do it for a fee.
